Link this phone or computer to your others and your decks — and how far through each card you are — stay the same on all of them.
Your notes are encrypted on this device before they are sent, using a key that comes from your sync code and never leaves your devices. The server stores something it cannot read.
Dashes and capitals do not matter. Open this same page on the other device to find its code.

Backup file
A file you keep yourself. Worth doing occasionally even with sync on — clearing your browser's site data deletes the decks on this device. Importing merges rather than overwrites, so it can never roll your progress back.
Vocabulary that sticks
Put in a list of words and their meanings, and this drills you on them seven at a time — both directions, mixed up, until you know every one. Get something wrong and it tells you why: a missing accent, the wrong gender, or the wrong word entirely.

- Come back. It picks up at the first section you have not finished.
Your decks are saved in this browser. Nothing needs an account, and nothing is shared with anyone.

One card per line works best. Tabs, dashes, colons, Q:/A:,
markdown headings and blank-line-separated blocks are all recognised automatically.
How this works
Where your notes are kept
On this device, in this browser. There is no account and no login. If you clear your browser's site data, the decks on this device go with it — so if a deck matters, export a backup from Devices now and then.
Using it on your phone and your computer
Open Devices → Turn on sync on one of them. You get a code. Type that code into the other one and they stay in step from then on — the same decks, and the same idea of how far through each card you are.
Your notes are encrypted on your device before they are sent, with a key worked out from your sync code. That code never leaves your devices, so what gets stored is something nobody else can read — not the person who set this up for you, and not anyone who got hold of the storage.
The flip side: there is no way to recover a lost sync code. No email, no password reset. If you lose it and no device still has it, the synced copy is unreadable for good. Anyone you give the code to can read your decks.
Working offline
Once you have opened it, it works with no connection. Anything you study offline uploads by itself when you are back online.
Getting it onto your home screen
iPhone: Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Android: the browser menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen. It then opens like any other app.
